Solar Energy Rebates and Incentives
NEW JERSEY
The New Jersey Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) currently offers incentives for solar electric systems. Sea Bright Solar will file all the paperwork for you. We will explain just how the incentives work.
New Jerseybusinesses and homeowners are not only eligible for state rebates but also federal tax benefits, such as a 30 percent tax investment credit.
Businesses can also take advantage of federal depreciation benefits. Additionally, solar system owners in New Jersey are able to sell their pollution certificates (solar renewable energy certificates, or SRECs) and can generate significant income by doing so.
Solar incentives include:
NJCEP Rebates: The NJCEP has an upfront rebate program that covers part of the initial costs for NJ homes, nonprofits and business in 2009. Combined with other incentives listed below offer NJ customers great economic incentives to get solar.
Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs): Receive payments from utilities for the clean energy you produce! The New Jersey Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) increased the value of SRECs, giving the average system owner thousands of dollars in income per year. NJ has the highest REC values in the U.S.
Federal Tax Credits: N.J. businesses and homeowners can receive a 30% federal tax credit, up to allowable amounts. Businesses are also eligible for depreciation benefits. This tax credit also applies to solar hot water systems.
PSE&G Solar Loans: PSE&G also has a solar loan program for its residential and commercial customers. Please contact us for up-to-date details. JCP&L and AC Electric utility companies intend to offer their own programs in 2009 in addition to the upfront rebate offered by the NJCEP.
0% Sales Tax: Solar electric systems are sales-tax exempt.

New forms of incentives, including renewable energy certificates, can be combined with net metering and other incentives. With these, a PV system can garner substantial revenue per kWh generated.
