It is clear to us that investing in clean energy is more important than ever before. Continue reading to learn more about how renewable energy can create a brighter future.
Significantly Boost the Economy
Recently, we have seen countless Americans lose their jobs and be forced to shut down their beloved businesses as we struggle to deal with this global pandemic. As a result, our economy is suffering greatly. The government has released stimulus packages to stimulate it, but we know that much more drastic measures need to be taken in order for us to get through this crisis with a healthy economy.
These darker times present us with the opportunity to make massive, beneficial changes in our country by investing in clean energy.
In the 2020 Global Renewables Outlook created by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), it is suggested that making renewable energy a priority can result in:
- Massive economic returns: Clean energy yields returns that range from 3 to 8 times higher than the initial investment. A net-zero emissions world by 2060 would cost up to $45 trillion but yield up to $169 trillion in returns. These returns are made possible by saving energy, protecting the environment, and reducing costs associated with climate change.
- Millions of new jobs: Working towards a zero-emissions future is a massive undertaking that would result in millions of new jobs. In fact, IRENA estimates that by 2050, the renewable energy workforce could be made up of approximately 63 million jobs.
Reverse Climate Change
As we all know, the fossil fuel industry is one of the top contributors to climate change. As they burn, fossil fuels emit massive amounts of carbon dioxide and contribute significantly to air pollution and global warming.
Due to COVID-19, the fossil fuel industry is taking a huge hit. The demand for fuel has dropped significantly in the last few months, which puts our country in a great position to break away from the fossil fuel industry, reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, and invest in a greener, more sustainable future.
In order to avoid suffering the most devastating effects of climate change, we need to stop relying on fossil fuels. By focusing our efforts on sustainability, we can protect our environment and live on a healthier, more resilient planet.
Create a Better Tomorrow
At this pivotal point in history, we have the chance to make serious, beneficial changes in our world. As our government searches for ways to save our economy, we believe that taking our citizens’ health and welfare into account is crucial. We can either continue on the path towards the destruction of the earth, or we can invest in clean energy and energy efficiency in order to boost our economy and build a more secure, sustainable world.
